"Death Row is a metaphor for life...
Life is worth living... Grab It!"
- Jacob ter Veldhuis
The PRISM Quartet and Miro
Dance Theatre perform the world premiere of Pitch
Black, an evening-length multimedia production exploring
themes of urban life in modern America. Stunning choreography by
Pennsylvania Ballet alum Amanda Miller and video installation by
Pew Fellow Tobin Rothlein are set to music for saxophones and ghetto
blaster by Dutch composer Jacob ter Veldhuis. An irreverent minimalist
score features samples ranging from jazz icons Billie Holiday and
Chet Baker to death row inmates and religious fanatics in Times
Square.
